My final week at Design Engine sadly ended up becoming a final 2 days here at the practice. With the bank holiday weekend, I returned on Tuesday, having been developing a cold over the weekend! On Wednesday, unfortunately I had to leave a little early, and decided not to come in for the last couple of days due to my illness. Although it was not the most eventful week, I felt it was a nice close to my time here, so I will keep my account of it short but sweet.
Both days I worked on filing Detail drawings for Architect Adam, who had become the one to always manage to occupy me with something when I was short of a task! I appreciated this though, and would rather be doing something helpful for the team... even if it was definitely the job that no one wanted to do! At least they would remember me as helpful!
Although not the most exciting task, I am actually a pretty OCD person when it comes to admin and organisation, so it suited me quite well! As I listened to Queen's album and meticulously filed, or on Wednesday, the sound of thunder rumbling across the Winchester South Downs, I worked my way through the pile of drawings.
It was actually pretty interesting, as I got to look at all the details the team had created - I was honestly astonished. At most I have drawn up maybe 5 details in my life, and simple ones at that. These drawings were so impressive, and there were literally hundreds of them! Literally... I had to ask Adam for a whole new massive black folder as I physically cousin't fit anymore in!
These images show just three of the hundreds of the detail drawings printed on A3 paper, which I hole-punched and filed according to their drawing number. Each drawing was marked-up with notes, annotations and amendments the team would have to do in due course - each detail and annotation taught me something different every time!
As I left the office on Wednesday afternoon, feeling a little downhearted I had cut my time short, I was greeted by this little guy sitting right outside, making me smile!
